大阪・関西万博のカナダ・ネットワーク・シンポジウム出席報告

「再生―ネットワークの活性化と未来の再創造」

6月30日（月）大阪・関西万博のカナダ・ネットワーク・シンポジウムが、「再生―ネットワークの活性化と未来の再創造」をテーマに万博カナダ館内にて開催され、石川会長はじめ日加協会の理事数名が参加しました。　プログラムの中で、石川会長が日加協会の歴史、最近の活動状況、日本とカナダの文化交流の将来像などについてスピーチをいたしました。

当日のプログラムは、以下のような講演内容でした。

(1) 万博2025カナダ政府代表Laurie Peters氏によるカナダパビリオンからの挨拶

(2) カナダ大使館広報部長Sirine Hijal 氏によるカナダ大使館からの歓迎挨拶

(3) 佐藤信行カナダ学会会長・中央大学副学長による「選挙、国王スピーチからみる最近のカナダ」

(4) 石川薫日加協会会長による「日加協会の近況活動と将来の展望」

(5) 岐阜県による「カナダオリンピック・パラリンピック選手へのホストタウン活動と交流」

(6) 林裕子下関カナダ友好協会副会長による「日本・カナダ友好の草の根活動」

(7) 愛媛県愛南町による「万博国際交流プログラム」

日本滞在中のJETプログラム参加者を含め80名を超える日加の参加者がカナダパビリオン内のレセプションエリアに集いネットワーキングを活発に行いました。

シンポジウム後にはカナダパビリオンツアーや、スイス、北欧、フランスなどのパビリオンの見学をして万博会場の雰囲気を満喫しました。

Report on Participation in the Canada Network Symposium at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai

"Regeneration — Revitalizing the Network and Reimagining the Future."

On Monday, June 30, the Canada Network Symposium was held at the Canada Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai under the theme "Regeneration — Revitalizing the Network and Reimagining the Future." Representing the Japan-Canada Society, President Kaoru Ishikawa and several CJS directors took part in the event.

As part of the symposium program, President Ishikawa delivered a speech outlining the history of the Japan-Canada Society, its recent activities, and his vision for the future of cultural exchange between Canada and Japan.

The program featured the following presentations:

(1) Opening Remarks from the Canada Pavilion by Ms. Laurie Peters, the Canadian Government Representative for Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai.

(2) Welcome Address from the Embassy of Canada by Ms. Sirine Hijal, Counsellor Public Affairs Embassy of Canada.

(3) “Recent Developments in Canada Seen Through Elections and the King’s Speech” by Professor Nobuyuki Sato, Vice President of Chuo University and President of the Japanese Association for Canadian Studies.

(4) “Recent Activities and Future Outlook of the Japan-Canada Society” by Mr. Kaoru Ishikawa, President of the Japan-Canada Society.

(5) “Host Town Initiatives and Exchange with Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Athletes” by Gifu Prefecture.

(6) “Grassroots Friendship Activities with Canada” by Ms. Yuko Hayashi, Vice President of the Shimonoseki Canada Friendship Association.

(7) “International Exchange Program at the Expo” by Ainan Town, Ehime Prefecture.

The symposium drew over 80 participants from both Japan and Canada, including current members of the JET Programme residing in Japan. Attendees gathered in the reception area of the Canada Pavilion and actively engaged in networking.

Following the symposium, participants enjoyed a guided tour of the Canada Pavilion, as well as visits to other national pavilions including those of Switzerland, the Nordic countries, and France, taking in the dynamic atmosphere of the Expo.
